at k- You like the taste of non veg in fact I know you love it. so why you prefer to be a veg, Is that because you feel its better for health.. vegetarians are less prone to diseases.. any think like that, better for society or you think it make you more humane. I know for a person like you its not because you want to be identified as a part of a community the eclectic group, in fact there is this trend in the intellectual community which I some time term as intellectual vegetarianism, I personally feel it do more harm to the society.
Its not because I feel vegetarianism will help you any way in health, at least not to a significant extent for what I am sure, I do think it may do some harm too. humane might be a reason but there are reasons about which I am not sure and I don't know what you meant by int...e..llect...ual vegetarianism and how do it harm the society.
I do feel that claims about the merits of vegetarianism is one of the main things the Hindu communal forces projects, so such a move from the intellectual community would be misread by the common masses. who won't understand the real reason why one chooses it.
We have our own reasons for doing things, why one must hesitate from doing things he feels right ?

I personally think we must not even harm any thing both living or non living, we must not harm the structure of some thing which took some effort for its existence ff an alternative exist. For eg we must not distort the perfect alignment of a Rubik's cube because its symmetry makes it beautiful more than that it took effort which we can destroy without any effort.

Amma don't look like this, this is K, Any body who talks with K will end up in such discussions. He is such a guy totally completely guided by a set of values ideologies, moral aspects. Me to my mother- Don't follow an ideology is my first principle. I do have ideology but I follow a principle that asks me not to follow it.

after few mins at k- I have my own ideas about vegetarianism its mainly on the grounds of being more humane but at some point I don't find a point in being humane either, I mean a holistic reason. I don't know whether my approach is to justify some thing I personally care, but at least I don't find vegetarianism worth the sacrifice of my small selfishness.
I am an anarchist, I am animalistic. on many aspects I advocate to follow your instincts. I am humane too, I do respect certain values. I am actually a conflict between all these.

Let me tell you why do we get hurt on torturing a human whom you haven't met. I think its because of empathy we replaces him with ourselves and feel the pain.
He act exactly like us.
The same thing happens when we slaughter an animal. Its gestures are exactly like ours. But not to the same extent when the victim is a human.
This wont happen this severe with smaller animals and when it comes to insects this don't happen at all
There we don't bother to leave a mosquito saying its a life.
So on some aspect I even approve killing a human for food. But its not good for the society in fact even for my proper well being. But my point is I don't feel it to be solely a holistic reason.
me continuing- I also identifies this as the roots of our morality, I don't think morality is given by some God or religion, Morality have genetic bases. We dont need a heavenly father to guide us, punish us to do good. Its these personal experiences of sympathy, empathy the fear of each of us being in the position of the victim that make us moral.
Yes Jose you are absolutely right on morality, A heavenly corrective force is not needed to be moral, Morality in humans are instinctive, but at some point religion helps, all people are not equal.
Law will suffice K why the harms brought by religion when we have better alternatives

One small comment on vegetarianism. I think some object even killing insects, in fact I once killed a centepede but my father was not happy he told me you could have just thrown it outside.

K that might be the reason for the response of your father. But I don't deny there exist people who show mercy even to mosquitoes on moral principles, but my point is, you cant always associate vegetarianism with it
I think its the sympathy empathy etc being humane and other different views people hold like in the case of you yourself the only genuine and appreciable reason for being a vegetarian. To some extent I even appreciate family sentiments.
But empathy is a weakness in some aspects.

Do you know he even don't read newspaper. He is highly goal oriented, wont waste a time on things which wont help him to achieve his set goals. The goals are not always materialistic. I don't mean he always tries to achieve some thing, others consider as achievement. But he lives aiming preset goals always.

Me to mother and k See these guys are so focused. Purpose Purpose Purpose See this is what I dislike. Do you know why I read the news paper. not for knowledge but for entertainment I enjoy following with what I read the ups, the downs, the gossips. I am not interested in who is the chief minister of Delhi but on all the small small incidents, the tactics of Kejriwal the gossips. Basically the currents and affairs that interests me not current affairs. To me reading newspaper is like watching cricket. Can you find any other reason for me reading Manorama the daily which wont give single news without distortion
